The information below is helpful for students as they become familiar with the Provo area – included below are documents, directions, websites, important area organizations, et cetera. Click on each link to open the attachment or website. We hope this information will make your move or visit more convenient.   • Brigham Young University – With over 30,000 students, BYU is a major impact on the local area and has an incredible library.
  • CenturyLink – Phone, Internet, TV.
  • Comcast/Xfinity – Phone, Internet, TV.
  • The Daily Herald – Utah Valley’s local newspaper.
  • Downtown Provo – Updates on events, shopping, and dining in historic downtown Provo.
  • Explore Utah – Explains the “Grid System” in navigating Utah streets.
  • GoogleMaps – An excellent way to navigate the area.
  • Internet Resources (Free, Off-Campus) – A partial list of off-campus Internet resources; the list evolves and students are encouraged to inquire at their surrounding restaurants and cafes. Generally, area libraries provide Internet resources.
  • Local Restaurants and Discounts – Local restaurants, hours, and information on pricing and discounts. Includes information on which restaurants are open on Sunday.
  • Orem Owlz – The area minor league baseball team plays at UVU and provides excellent family entertainment.
  • Provo City Website – The Provo City website includes comprehensive information about things to do in Provo as well as information on residing within the city. Under the “Living” heading, students may find information about the Provo School District, library, Utah DMV and licensure, government and community resources, housing, trash pick-up, public transportation, Provo City Power, and a virtual tour. The Provo City help line is 801.852.6000. Reasons to love Provo:
  • Provo Hiking Trails (BYU Wellness) – A great resource for finding outdoor activities.
  • Provo Library – The largest city library in the area, students may visit for resources, study space, and internet access.
  • Provo Mayor Blog – A fun blog by the Mayor which is frequently updated and includes the latest insights into Provo City.
  • Provo Recreation Center – The Rec Center provides great indoor fitness options for post-professional students and faculty. For $5 per visit (or a great monthly or annual rate), students have access to an aquatic facility, racquetball courts, free weights, cardio equipment, and fitness classes. The Rec Center is only a few miles from campus!
  • Provo School District – Information on the local school district.
  • Provo Towne Centre – The Provo mall approximately 1.5 miles from campus.
  • Questar Gas Company – Natural gas services.
  • The Reserve at East Bay – This golf course is located across the street from RMUoHP and provides some great discounts (with Student ID). Non-residential students may use rental clubs for free. Monday through Thursday: Nine holes are $10 w/o cart or $16 with cart. Friday through Sunday: Nine holes are $12 w/o cart or $18 with cart. Prices are doubled for 18 holes. Anytime: Executive course is $6. Large driving range bucket is $6.
  • Ski Utah – Ski venue and conditions.
  • Sundance Resort – Excellent food and year-round adventures and entertainment are found at Sundance Resort (and it’s one of RMUoHP students’ favorite destinations, just a half hour from campus!).

  • TripAdvisor – A compilation of Provo information and reviews, including hotels, restaurants, and attractions.
  • Urban Spoon – Provo restaurant listings, including reviews, descriptions, and pricing information.
  • Utah Driver’s License Information– Information on state licensure requirements, handbooks, and frequently asked questions.
  • Utah Historical Society – General and historical information regarding Utah.
  • Utah Transit Authority – Public transportation; Bus route 850 stops approximately .5 miles from the University. Student discounts are available from RMUoHP; visit the Housing & Transportation link for more information.
  • Utah Travel Industry – Broad information about Utah Valley and the Provo/Orem area.
  • Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce – News, information, and activities that affect local businesses.
  • Utah Valley Convention and Visitors’ Bureau – An excellent site to discovering Utah Valley, including fun adventures and current events.
  • Utah Valley Interfaith Association– Information on religious organizations in Utah County; opportunities to participate in religious discussions and community events. While this is a Utah Valley University association, it is open to RMUoHP students as well.
  • Utah Valley University – A major state institution, UVU has over 30,000 students and is found in the neighboring city of Orem.
